Last night saw the Leafs fall in overtime to the dreaded Florida Panthers.

1-0 Panthers (Alex Barkov goal)

The play gets started in the good old Gretzky’s office behind the net, with Jonathan Huberdeau keeping the puck on a string to get things going. The pair have been pretty remarkable in Florida over the past few seasons despite a lacklustre rest of the roster, and they connected here to give Florida a first-period lead.

2-0 Panthers (Jonathan Huberdeau goal)

And we thought being patient was only for Mitch Marner. Jonathan Huberdeau dingles and dangles all over the offensive zone, and the Leafs are caught looking like fools on this one.
Although he did get beat here, can we give kudos to Curtis McElhinney for recovering and not letting up another goal in regulation?

2-1 Panthers (Dominic Moore goal)

Though he was bumped out of the lineup a night earlier, Dominic Moore came back looking to prove something and well, he scored his sixth goal of the season. It wasn’t a pretty play per se, but they all count the same, and you can just smell the relief on his face. Moore picks up a giveaway out in front of the net, and it takes a few whacks before Moore pokes it into the gaping cage. Big goal for the fourth line, and the Leafs push themselves back into the game.

2-2 (Zach Hyman goal)

If you had to pick two Leafs to score on any given night, we’d bet that Dominic Moore and Zach Hyman wouldn’t exactly be at the top of your list.
The play is started and orchestrated by one wee Willie Nylander, who just might have created his quintessential assist on this beautiful effort. All that’s left to do for Zach Hyman is to simply push the puck into the open net of Roberto Luongo, who doesn’t get caught out of position very often.
Just like that, we’re all tied up.

3-2 Panthers (Jared McCann goal)

I McCann, Gord! Because Zaitsev bit and missed! An ugly end to the game, but at least the Buds are still picking up points at this stage of the year.
We’ll see you Saturday night, as the Leafs take on the Capitals in the outdoor game in Annapolis, Maryland.
