Joseph Woll is an absolute stud: Leafs Morning Take

Another night, another solid performance for Joseph Woll.
I know Max Domi’s comments comparing the 25-year-old to Carey Price were taken out of context, but it’s hard not to be jacked about Woll right now.
At any rate, guest co-host Anthony Stewart and I kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the first ever ‘Frozen Frenzy.’ Tuesday night featured all 32 NHL teams in action with staggered start times. Essentially, it was organized chaos. I loved every second of it, especially because the Maple Leafs won.
Presented by DoorDash, The Appetizer focused on Woll’s 36 save performance in the 4-1 win in Washington. He was dialled in. The Leafs are now 2-1-0 through three legs of their five-game road trip. Auston Matthews had one and one while William Nylander and John Tavares extended their season starting point streaks to six games. Simply put, Toronto took care of business against an inferior opponent, something they’ve struggled to do over the past decade or so.

Meantime, as mentioned, it was another strong outing for John Tavares. We talked about his professionalism and his importance to this franchise. It’s incredible how consistent he’s been since joining the Maple Leafs. Personally, I think the captain has held up to his end of the bargain —generous contract aside. He means a lot to this squad —not only on the ice, but off of it, too.
After that, we took a look at the Atlantic Division standings and how the Leafs match-up against the rest of the division in the early going. For what it’s worth, we’re going to try and make that a weekly segment every Wednesday.
Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix for Thursday’s show. Join us at 11 AM ET as we preview Toronto’s fourth stop on their five-game road trip as they visit the Dallas Stars. Also, Mike Commito, the author of ‘Leafs 365: Daily Stories from the Ice’ will drop by to chat about his new book.
