Brandon Montour reveals Toronto was a serious consideration in free agency last summer: Leafs Morning Take

The Maple Leafs took care of business at Scotiabank Arena to kick off the series, and now, they need to do the same at Amerant Bank Arena.
Speaking of which, that’s where we’re staging Leafs Morning Take through Monday. We kicked off the show by giving a scene setter. All in all, one of the fascinations will be surrounding how many Leafs fans show up for the road games.
Right off the bat, former Florida Panther and Brantford native Brandon Montour dropped by the show from Sweden, where he’s getting set to suit up for Team Canada at the World Championship. The Kraken blue liner weighed in on Toronto’s 2-0 series lead and what he sees in this year’s team. Additionally, he talked about Florida’s Cup run last season and when he started to feel Lord Stanley was possible. Montour thinks the Panthers will be dialled in tonight. Lastly, he revealed that Toronto was seriously considered – by his camp – in free agency last summer. Interesting, interesting.
Then, courtesy RVezy, we offered up a full game preview. Maybe it’s politicking but Paul Maurice claims the Cats have some game-time decisions due to injury. We’ll see. Meantime, the Leafs just need to continue playing their game and they will be fine. The power play needs to get going —that goes without saying. William Nylander is on fire. Keep that going! Joseph Woll will start. Anthony Stolarz is not here. Furthermore, thanks to GRETA BAR YYZ, Daily Faceoff’s Steven Ellis joined us from the Leafs’ morning skate to give us the lay of the land ahead of tonight’s monster game.
Last but not least, for the CRISPI HOT TAKE OF THE DAY, presented by the Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer, Producer Vick packed heat yet again. He thinks Sheldon Keefe was the problem all along, not Kyle Dubas. Spicy.
Coming up on Saturday at 11 AM ET, be sure to join Jeff Marek and me for a very special edition of Leafs Morning Take —live from Amerant Bank Arena. We’ll recap Game 3 as well as look ahead to Game 4 on Sunday night.
