Leafs Go Low Risk High Reward and Sign Tyler Ennis

That’s right. Only $650k for a player who is now three years removed from being a pretty decent second line player.
The 28 year old, 5’9 winger was recently bought out by the Minnesota Wild, and it’s safe to say there wasn’t a whole lot of interest in a player coming off a 22 point season. It should be noted that it was a healthy season, after Ennis only playing 74 games combined in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns.
The numbers on Ennis aren’t great, but that’s with the expectation that Tyler Ennis will definitely be a Leafs regular. That’s probably not the expectation. Ennis may be under contract but he will absolutely be competing for an NHL job, that may take the form of a fourth line role, 13th forward, or potentially a leader on the Marlies.
It’s also noteworthy that Ennis has played some center over his time in the NHL, and could be a 4th line center option on a Leafs team that will barely use anyone other than Tavares, Matthews, or Kadri up the middle.
