Leafs, Marlies, Bears shuffle the deck chairs

The Toronto Maple Leafs organization have done a bunch of shuffling today, sending guys, up, down, sideways, and completely out of the picture. Nothing major, but let’s break it all down.

Petter Granberg

First off, Granberg has been sent down once again by the Toronto Maple Leafs, continuing the constant shuffle of easily moved depth defencemen. Who knows how long he sticks around this time, though with players starting to become healthy, we might see a Marlies game or two with a defensive lineup nearly identical to last years.

Brett Findlay

Findlay hasn’t played a ton of hockey for the Marlies this season, drawing into the lineup only thirteen times and putting up just three points. He has, however, looked very good with the Solar Bears, scoring 25 points in 29 games. With Spencer Abbott headed to Chicago, I expect to see Findlay on the left wing for one of the bottom six lines for at least a little while, as the team figures out how it’s going to look during its playoff push.

Bryce Aneloski

The other by-product of yesterday’s not-Clarkson trade is that the Marlies no long require the services of Bryce Aneloski, and will be ending his tryout immediately. Aneloski had no points and was a -3 in three games this year, and will return to the Orlando Solar Bears, who own his main contract rights.
