Leafs prospect Connor Brown reaches 100 pts in just 48 games

Leafs prospect Connor Brown just became the first player in Erie Otters history to score 100 points in a season. Even more insane: He did it in just 48 games. Um… Wow. Holy crap.

You should always take junior statistics with a grain of salt. New Leafs prospect Brandon Kozun had back-to-back 100+ point seasons in the WHL, and that hasn’t even translated into an appearance in an NHL game for him yet. Still, it’s noteworthy that Brown, a Toronto Maple Leafs pick (6th round, 156th overall in 2012), currently leads the OHL with over two points per game. The guy with the second-most points is 15 points behind Brown, and he’s his teammate. Dane Fox of the Otters currently has 85 points. The closest OHL player to Brown not on the Otters is Nikolay Goldobin of the Sarnia Sting with 73 points – a whole 27 points behind Brown.

Another one of Brown’s teammates is 2015 draft-eligible phenom Connor McDavid, who has 62 points in 36 games. A great click, but still not at the same pace as Brown.

A look at his game log this season shows how dominant Brown has been. His longest pointless streak is two games, and that only happened once.

At the beginning of the season, we ranked Connor Brown as the 18th-best Leafs prospect. Last week, we bumped him up a whole nine spots to number nine, the greatest increase of any Leafs prospect. Maybe we should have him even higher.
