The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed forward Brandon Kozun to a one year contract. It’s a two-way deal, that sees him earn $550,000 if he is up with the Leafs.
Kozun was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in January, in a trade that sent Andrew Crescenzi the other way. The move ended up being crucial to the Toronto Marlies in the second half of the season, as he put up 7 goals and 10 assists in 32 games to close out the year. In the playoffs, Kozun added 4 goals and 2 assists in 14 games.
This move is likely an AHL one; he had respectable but not outstanding production, and doesn’t appear to have the size that the Leafs lean towards having in the lineup. But keeping the Marlies competitive is vital to the success of the youth, be it via mentorship or games played.
