The Toronto Maple Leafs announced late Thursday evening that the club had recalled forward Trevor Moore from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
To those that have observed the Marlies this season and throughout last years Calder-Cup Championship season, it’s no surprise that Moore has been recalled in wake of Auston Matthews’ injury.

The Swiss Army Knife

He cradles the puck like it’s on a string. He can lead the charge in zone exits and zone entires. He can play on both special team units. He’s defensively responsible. And above all, he maintains top-flight speed while doing all those things.
In the purest sense, Trevor Moore is a swiss army knife.
In less than a calendar year, Moore has become one of the Marlies most dangerous weapons. Since March 31st, Moore has 36 points in his last 35 regular season and playoff games.
Trevor Moore since March 31st
End of 2017-2018 regular season7 points, 5 games
2018 Playoffs17 points, 20 games
Start of 2018-2019 season12 points, 10 games

Will Moore see game action?

The Leafs didn’t recall Moore to warm a seat in the press box. There would be no point of disrupting his red-hot start with the Marlies.
Toronto has brought up Moore because they think he can contribute.
The Leafs’ bottom six has struggled throughout the start of the season, and perhaps the injection of Moore’s speed could bring some new life to the bottom two forward lines.
