Last night could’ve went way better. Tonight has to go better. On the second half of a back to back, the Toronto Maple Leafs are about to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Here’s what’s about to go down.

If last night wasn’t enough to shake up the lines a bit, I don’t know what will be. Free Marchenko.

So, but seriously, who would’ve figured a decade or so ago that the only Staal in Carolina was going to be Jordan? I also like how, even with Paul Maurice long gone from both organizations, half of the Hurricanes’ bottom six is made up of ex-Leafs.

Starting Goaltenders

Curtis McElhinney likely draws in for the Leafs. The hope, the prayer, is that he steps up a little more than he did against the Blue Jackets earlier in the week.
Cam Ward is still alive, playing hockey, and likely starting for the Hurricanes tonight. He’s entering his 12th season with the team, which is insane when you realize that the last one where he was above league average in save percentage was 2012.

What To Look Out For

Absolute feverish panic across the city if they don’t pick up a point or two. Also, some fun neutral zone play from the Hurricanes; the Leafs are going to have to stay mobile to keep up, which might work against them given the whole second half of a back-to-back on the road thing.
