LGD: Hopefully not the IceCaps again

The Toronto Maple Leafs recently eked out an win against the Montreal Canadiens, which was fun as heck to watch from a shot count standpoint but a bit worrisome given that the Leafs played a full roster, the Habs played half a team, and the game went to overtime.

This time around, both sides will be a bit closer to actual hockey, and we’ll get a taste of what this rivalry will look like throughout the year.

Carey Price will start in goal with Al Montoya backing him up. This will be the first time that Carey Price and Shea Weber play together as Habs; heck, it’ll be the first time Weber plays this preseason. Max Pacioretty, Paul Byron, and Brian Flynn were all options for tonight, but have illnesses and/or injuries to deal with.

Well, if Matt Martin really is going to be a guy that makes space for skilled forwards and protects his guys, we’re going to see it tonight. The Habs aren’t going to play lightly; many players in the roster have the ability to score, there are a few guys looking to get spots, pretty much every right-winger in their lineup has a history of being a disturber of some sort, so he’ll have his hands full.

As well, we’ll get to see the big three try their hand at beating Carey Price. That’ll be great.
