5 years agoGood afternoon! It’s Game Day!
The Leafs are in high altitude tonight as they kick off a mini road trip through Colorado, Vegas and Arizona. Their opponents tonight are the struggling Colorado Avalanche, with just two wins in their last ten games as they slip deeper into mediocrity in the Western Conference.
The Leafs are coming off of a frustrating loss that I’m sure we’ve all blocked out by now, and will be hoping that a change of scenery out west will help get them back on track as they look to retain their status as one of the Atlantic’s top teams.
Leafs Lines
Andreas Johnsson has been freed!
After spending time mired on the fourth line on his off-wing, Johnsson returns to the top nine, slotting in next to Kadri and Kapanen. Things are looking up in terms of personnel decisions, folks.
Still no Tyler Ennis, though, despite being activated off of IR.

Mikko Rantanen and Nathan Mackinnon have cooled it a bit since their early season dominance, but make no mistake – the duo remains dangerous.
The two have just a combined 4 points in their last 5 games, though, so hopefully they don’t heat up tonight.
Starting Goalies
Semyon Varlamov (.906) and Frederik Andersen (.923) are your projected starters tonight. Andersen seems no worse for wear after getting shaken up in Montreal on Saturday, and Varlamov, despite a strong showing in his last game, hasn’t been having a stellar season by any means.
Notes
- William Nylander has 7 points in his last 8 games, and might finally be un-broken. This should surprise nobody, but of course it’s surprising hundreds of idiots on facebook.
- How quickly is Andreas Johnsson going to score a hat trick and become a $10M player? Let us know!
Puck Drop is 9pm ET tonight. A tough one for the early morning crew, but you can catch all the action on TSN4!
