LGD: The Islanders Again

The Toronto Maple Leafs took to the New York Islanders on Sunday night in a 3-1 road victory, but you have to imagine that John Tavares and Co. will be looking for a little revenge when they visit the Air Canada Centre just over an hour from now.
The Leafs
Toronto is going for the fourth win in five games tonight, and they’ll be relying on their hottest offensive weapons to get them there. I mean, it’s a little strange that two of their hottest offensive weapons are Tyler Bozak and Leo Komarov, but coach Mike Babcock will take his points where he can get them.
The Islanders
It’s going to be a new look Islanders team tonight, with a number of lines being juggled as they look for a better result. I’d say that’s a good move – I too would be extremely concerned if my team could only score a single goal against Jonathan Bernier, too.
Starting Goaltenders
Bernier played well in the first half of the back-to-back series with the Islanders, stopping 25 of 26 shots in the win. So why not let him go again? He’ll be facing a familiar opponent as well, as Thomas Greiss gets his second straight start. Greiss was very good on Sunday night as well, giving up just two goals on 37 shots.
What To Watch For…
- Tyler Bozak won the NHL’s Third Star of the Week honours with four goals and an assist in three games last week. Keep a close eye out for Bozie on his march to his first ever 50-point season.
- It’d be fun to see the Leafs really light up Greiss, if only because former Toronto goaltending prospect Chris Gibson will again be backing up with Jaroslav Halak still out with an injury. Gibson was one of the several prospects dealt to the Island in the Michael Grabner trade, and he’s been playing well for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with a .928 SV% and 1.99 GAA in 22 games so far this year.
