Florida managed to get through yesterday’s trade deadline without doing a whole lot of anything. They did make a depth add last week acquiring winger Frank Vatrano, but it doesn’t appear like he’ll be in the lineup this evening.

Sitting fourth in the Atlantic Division and 11th in the conference as a whole (though ninth by points %), Florida is still facing a fighting chance at the playoffs, with sportsclubstats.com pinning their odds at about 1-in-3: 34.3%. They’re not a real threat to the Leafs like they ended up being late last year, but if all things go well and they go on a run on their games in hand, things could get fun moving forwards for the Cats.

No surprise that Curtis McElhinney gets the start tonight for Toronto, with “second half of a back-to-back” being his main and well, pretty much only responsibility when it comes to the net this season. Meanwhile, it’ll be some dude named Roberto Luongo in net for Florida, who’s picked up wins in consecutive starts since facing the Leafs last week.
