The likely return of John Tavares and a matchup against an unrested team has led to the Toronto Maple Leafs being favoured away from home, but their opponent has been a nemesis in recent years. The Maple Leafs are a -135 away favourite while the Philadelphia Flyers are a +115 underdog with 6.5-goal total on the Saturday NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Maple Leafs at Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report

Toronto is 11-9 in its last 20 games as an away favourite at online sports betting sites and is also 2-4 in its last six games against Philadelphia. The Flyers, who earned a 4-3 shootout win against the New Jersey Devils on Friday, are 8-12 in their last 20 games when they played the previous day, and have not defeated an eventual playoff team when playing back-to-back since March 28, 2018. The total has gone OVER in eight of the Flyers’ last 10 games as an underdog at home.
The Maple Leafs are 6-5-3 and Tavares, who missed the last six games with a broken finger on his right hand, is expected to rejoin their lineup alongside right wing Mitch Marner. Despite his absence, Toronto still ranks seventh in the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (52.38), which is commensurate with being eighth in goal scoring (3.50 per game).
Top-four defenceman Jake Muzzin (personal reasons) will not play and this might compromise a Maple Leafs back end that wears Toronto’s 22nd-ranked goals-against record (3.43). On special teams, Toronto has the 17th-ranked power play (19.6 percent) and 23rd-ranked penalty kill (77.1).
Frederik Andersen, who is confirmed as the Maple Leafs’ starting goalie, is 6-2-2 this season with a 3.03 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.
The Flyers are 6-5-1 so far this season, and appear to boast a solid three-line attack led by centers Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier and Kevin Hayes. That depth has contributed to the Flyers leading the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (55.97), but they are 13th in goal scoring (3.25 per game) while ranking 20th in goals against (3.33).
On special teams, Philadelphia has the 13th-ranked power play (22.2 percent) and 15th-ranked penalty kill (81.6).
In goal, Carter Hart, who is 2-3-1 with a 3.32 goals-against average and .864 save percentage, played in New Jersey on Friday. Brian Elliott, who is 3-2-0 with a .310 GAA and .904 save percentage, might be in line for his first start since allowing six goals on 28 shots against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
The Maple Leafs’ next game is Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings for the start of a three-game homestand.
