The Toronto Maple Leafs’ run of good form so far this month might help them get back to their trend of playing well in the front end of back-to-back games.
The Maple Leafs are -170 away favourites against the +150 underdog New York Rangers with a 6.5-goal total on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Maple Leafs, who also host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, are 10-5 in their last 15 games when they were also playing the following day, but the two most recent matchups ended in defeats.
The total has finished UNDER in eight of the Maple Leafs’ last 12 road games where they were favored by -150 or deeper in minus money on the moneyline at online betting sites. The total has also finished UNDER in seven of the Rangers’ last nine games as a home underdog.

Maple Leafs at Rangers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Maple Leafs are 17-14-4 this season, including a 5-3 mark in eight away games under new head coach Sheldon Keefe. Centers John Tavares and Auston Matthews have helped Toronto rise to sixth in the 31-team NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (52.6 percent). Perhaps more importantly, Toronto has limited five of its last six opponents to three or fewer goals, with the lone exception being the result of a third-period lapse on December 12. Toronto is eighth in the NHL in goals scored (3.26 per game) and 22nd in goals against (3.14), while the power play ranks 12th (20.4 percent) and the penalty killing unit stands 26th (76.1).
Frederik Andersen will make his eighth consecutive start for Toronto. Andersen is 17-8-3 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .920 save percentage this season.
The Rangers are 16-13-4 this season, but have lost their last three games as a home underdog, scoring only four goals in that span. Left wing Artemi Panarin is on a tear with seven goals (on 17 shots) during a five-game goal streak, but overall the Rangers have struggled to generate offense at even strength, ranking 31st – last – in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (44.0 percent). They are 10th in goals scored (3.18 per game) and 23rd in goals against (3.15). The Rangers have a 14th-ranked power play (19.8 percent) and 23rd-ranked penalty killing unit (77.5).
Alexandar Georgiev, who is 9-6-1 this season with a 2.72 goals-against average and .920 save percentage, will start in goal for the Rangers. He has allowed only six goals in three career starts against the Maple Leafs.
Following Saturday’s home game against the Red Wings, the Maple Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday afternoon before taking a three-day holiday break.
