Maple Leafs Recall Adam Brooks and Martin Marincin, Again.

One week since returning to the AHL just before the NHL’s Holiday Roster Freeze kicked in, Adam Brooks and Martin Marincin have once again been recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While most members of the Leafs organization unplugged over the last week to enjoy the holiday season, Brooks and Marincin were loaned back to the Marlies to partake in two games against the Belleville Senators. With the roster freeze now lifted, and the Leafs set to kick-off a three-game road trip in New Jersey tonight, it’s no surprise the Leafs are bringing an extra forward and defenceman for the ride.

The shuttle between Scotiabank Arena and Coca Cola Coliseum has been getting lots of mileage, with the club making a large sum of transactions between their NHL and AHL affiliate in the first half of this season. For the most part, these call-ups have been for insurance purposes and while this time is no different, there’s a good chance one of the two could be called into action.

Brooks very well could make his NHL debut as early as tonight, with Trevor Moore ruled out indefinitely with a concussion.

Having recorded 16 points in 20 games (0.80 points per game) thus far during his 2019-2020 campaign, Brooks’ strong start to the season has earned him two call-ups in the last two weeks. While his previous two recalls were more-so a matter of rewarding him for his progression this season, those recalls were also made in an effort by Sheldon Keefe to familiarize up-and-comers with the big club,

Barring an injury, Marincin will most likely up in the press box for the teams’ next three road games. The 27-year-old defenceman has suited up for the Leafs five times this year, tallying an assist and averaging 11:51 TOI per game throughout.
