It’s been a busy night for milestones. 800 games for Brodie. 400 games for Kerfoot, but most importantly Mitch Marner has now picked up his 500th career point.
Marner’s goal not only allowed him to hit his career milestone, but he broke the Leafs out of a terrible funk that saw Toronto only get two shots on net in the first period. The early second period goal woke the Leafs up, and was soon followed by John Tavares scoring the go ahead goal for the Leafs.
Marner joins Matthews as the second Leaf of 2023 to hit the 500 career point mark, and he is now the second fastest Leaf to hit that milestone. Matthews and Marner will continue to do battle over who has the lead in career points.
Though it seems to be a very supportive competition.
The next round of milestones seems to be focused on the 400 career point mark. Presently Morgan Rielly is sitting 10 points away and William Nylander is 12 points away.
