Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has partnered with SkipTheDishes and Candy Funhouse to release Mitch’s Mix, a variety sampler of the forward’s favourite candy that can be exclusively ordered on SkipThe Dishes in the GTA.
In a move that’s sure to upset angry uncles across the nation who believe that pro athletes should never have fun outside of winning games for their favourite team, Marner has chosen to once again showcase his playful side with yet another food collaboration following his “Mitch’s Dishes” virtual popup that debuted last year.
This time around, the Mitch’s Mix candy box costs SkipTheDishes customers $30 to order. It comes with 16 candies including Starburst Gummies, Ring Pops, KitKat Chunky Popcorn Bars, Oreo The Most Stuffed and Fritos Flavor Twists Honey BBQ, showcasing a range of both classics and newer snacks.
The sweetest part of it all is that proceeds from every sale will be donated to the Marner Assist Foundation, working to support youth by providing resources that will make a significant impact on their lives. Every order will also have a chance to win an exclusive piece of merchandise, signed by Marner. His charity work in the community has been on a healthy display during his time as a Maple Leaf and this is yet another example of it.
Candy Funhouse is owned by NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who received a box of Marner’s selection when Giannis’ Bucks were in Toronto to face the Raptors. Much like Giannis, Marner is a huge gaming fan and during an interview on Friday, called himself “a big sugar guy” who likes to snack while playing video games.
Perhaps Mitch’s Mix is hockey’s version of Michael’s Secret Stuff that helped Space Jam’s Tune Squad defeat their bruising rivals and the extra sugar rush will propel Marner and the Leafs past the Panthers and Bruins come playoff season.
