Monday Mailbag: Still Talking About William Edition

It’s yet another week of the William Nylander holdout, which means that it’s another week of terrible trade rumours and anxiety. Also, another week of questions about Nylander (and other topics).

Well, Peter Chiarelli has a habit of trading away young talent, so he might not even have to demand a trade, depending on how much rope Chia has in Edmonton.

I’m sorry, that’s not allowed. He’s ONLY played four games this season, and has been bad in two of them, and even the two he was good in, he *looked* ugly in them, unlike the totally composed Curtis McElhinney. The people have already decided, and as a result, you must be stabbed.

This is, of course, sarcasm. Sparks has been okay so far, not good, but not terrible either, and should probably get more games before we make a decision on him.

Calle Rosen and Andreas Borgman have both already had some NHL action, so they are certainly capable of playing in the top six this season if the Leafs are decimated with injuries on the blueline. It’d be hard to see Borgman sticking around when his contract is up afterwards, although Rosen is a different story.

As for down the road, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Timothy Liljegren or Rasmus Sandin play for the Leafs full time next season, although Sandin will probably take the Travis Dermott route.

Aside from them, there’s really no one else on the Marlies that haven’t already established themselves as AHL-lifers, aside from the off chance that Jordan Subban manages to crack the lineup.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are about to play the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I mean, he has seven career assists, so it’s not out of the ordinary, and he likes to move the puck from time to time. Considering that this team has a strong offense as well, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get another primary assist this season.
