The Leafs… are hoping they’ll never have to watch the highlights of that one ever again.
If you’d like to, however, here’s the seven goals (five by the Capitals) that went through last night.

1-0 Capitals (Evgeny Kuznetsov goal)

The Washington Capitals power play is deadly. Rinse, repeat, and score.
Not the prettiest goal, but it’s the first one. Few minutes into this one, and the Leafs are down 1-zip.

1-1 Leafs (Zach Hyman goal)

Failed to load video.

Zach Hyman’s definitely proved his value this season. With 13 goals on the season now, he’s gotten a little bit more juice out of his second year in the NHL. Performing his best JVR impersonation on this one, Hyman gets just enough of the puck to redirect this one past Braden Holtby and the Leafs are back in business baby!

2-1 Capitals (Alex Ovechkin goal)

This f’n guy, eh? It’s an inevitable thing that Ovechkin scores when he plays the Leafs. Nothing more to be said.

3-1 Capitals (Nicklas Backstrom goal)

Narrator voice: the Leafs were definitely not back in business. Down two before the end of the first, Freddy looking shaky, and hoo boy, this was not looking like an outdoor game for the ages.

3-2 Capitals (Nazem Kadri goal)

But maybe they’d pull back within one? Great screen from Mitch Marner and through the cold, some life is breathed into the Toronto faithful.

4-2 Capitals (John Carlson goal)

And then it’s ripped away just like that.

5-2 Capitals (Jakub Vrana goal)

Dagger. Andersen chased, and you better believe a team’s never come back from three down in an outdoor game before!
We’d see a power outage as the most exciting part of the third period, and that’s a wrap on arguably the worst outdoor game we’ve seen.
🙁
