To be honest, there’s really not a whole lot to say about last night’s Leafs game. They looked okay, got slightly outshot by the league’s best team, only allowed a pair of goals and ran into a hot goalie while being unable to score. For some reason, that required about all of twitter dot com to reflect at the same time, “THIS WOULD BE FUN PLAYOFF HOCKEY”.
Anyway, here’s a quick primer of how things went down.

Corsi’s

Lightning 1, Leafs 0

The fact Chris Kunitz is still producing for a Stanley Cup-contending team in 2018 is kind of hilarious and maddening at the same time. It was Cedric Paquette’s first goal of the season, which seems about right for the Leafs of late.

Lightning 2, Leafs 0

It seems like a while since we’ve seen one of these, but that’s the way she rolls sometimes, eh?
Alex Killorn tosses the puck on net, and it stays over the red line for about 0.001 seconds… but that’s all that matters, and we have a “good hockey goal.”
There’s no great comeback narrative. Mitch Marner weaved through the neutral zone a few times, Frederik Andersen made a few nice saves, but yeah, the Leafs were just slightly outplayed and couldn’t find the back of the net. One of those games…

Johnny Bower Tribute

As it was the Leafs’ first game back since the passing of Johnny Bower on December 26th, the Leafs honoured the man in the only way they knew how: by wearing his number for warmup.
