On Matthew Knies being a stud, Max Domi’s new role, & Round 1 of the Battle of Ontario: Leafs Morning Take

Here we go again: It’s another Maple Leafs game day.
But honestly, which Leafs team will show up tonight is the big question —at least for me.
With Jay Rosehill back in the mix, we kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing how bad things are getting in the province of Alberta. In case you missed it, former Leafs netminder Jack Campbell was placed on waivers on Tuesday. He’s destined for Bakersfield of the AHL because, yeah, no one’s claiming him at that hefty price tag. Just for good measure, the Flames, who managed to squeak out a victory against Nashville on Tuesday night, benched Jonathan Huberdeau and his massive ticket for the entire third period. Fun times.
Presented by DoorDash, The Appetizer focused on a status check. How do each of us feel about this team at the 12-game mark? Spoiler: A bit uneasy. It’s early, though, right? Yeah, let’s go with that. It’s been a rollercoaster start —that’s for sure.
Meantime, brought to you by the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Round 1 of the Battle of Ontario. Simply put, two desperate teams, who have been downright atrocious defensively, are set to duke it out at Scotiabank Arena. All I’ll say is that the Maple Leafs be ready to play, or they’ll run the risk of getting their doors blown off. For what it’s worth, I expect the Sens to be in a foul mood.
Also, we dissected Toronto’s new-look third line and what it could mean for Max Domi, who’s really struggled to find a rhythm early on in his Leafs tenure.

Join us on Thursday at 11 AM ET for a full recap of Leafs/Senators. Also, the man, the myth, the legend, Elliotte Friedman, will drop by for a chat. Like Frank Seravalli offered up on Tuesday, we’ll get a lay of the land on some possible conversations being had behind the scenes in Leafs Nation right now.
