Report: Leafs, Blackhawks The Finalists For Vesey

According to Adrian Dater of Bleacher Report, the Leafs are, along with the Chicago Blackhawks, the two finalists in the Jimmy Vesey sweepstakes.
It’s been a long and winding road in a saga that’s seen the 23-year-old make clear his intentions to test free agency while with Nashville, be traded to Buffalo, and re-affirm his stance.
Despite the report, other teams are expected to make a push for the college phenom, among them Boston (Vesey’s a Massachusetts native) and the New Jersey Devils.
Whether or not the Leafs really are among just two finalists to land Vesey’s services remains to be seen, but it would make a lot of sense that he’d have interest, given that his dad and brother both belong to the organization (as a scout and a prospect respectively) and the fact that the Leafs are seemingly a team on the rise. Either way, we should find out sooner rather than later where Vesey wants to go.
Vesey scored 46 points in 33 games for Harvard University last season.
