Roundtable: What Front Office Exec Should the Leafs Steal from Another Team?
Much like in 2015, when the Leafs snatched Lou Lamoriello from the New Jersey Devils, the writers at TLN decided to look at who the Leafs could steal from another team.
Cam “*extremely Sam Blazer voice*@cooom” Lewis
Peter Chiarelli for GM

Ron Francis, and I’m not sure what role. Francis had a great plan in Carolina and that team is similar to the Jets in which they have to stay the course, get a good goalie and they’ll be fine (even though recent changes indicate they won’t). He’d definitely be someone I’d like the Leafs to bring in, and there are some rumours that that might already be happening. I know we wouldn’t be stealing him from the Hurricanes, but it’s a similar scenario to Lamoriello in 2015 anyways.
The Bad Ryan (Hobart)
Since Dubas was promoted, his old role of managing the Marlies is the most pressing need the Leafs need to fill, and the most sensible way to do that is to try to find the next Kyle Dubas. Why not take that literally and grab the current GM of the Soo Greyhounds, Kyle Raftis? For an insight into his approach at general manager, here’s an article on his approach to the 2014-15 trade deadline: http://www.saultstar.com/2014/12/03/raftis-says-hounds-interested-in-adding-talent
Adam “Too Busy to Write This Himself” Laskaris
Take Steve Yzerman, and give him some job for lots of money. Don’t even give him a ton of power, but it would be cool to just see the Leafs buy out one of their opponents. Why not?
