Staios named president of Hamilton Bulldogs, Leafs promote Scott Pellerin

8 years agoThe changes just keep on rolling in for the Leafs this offseason, as it’s been reported this morning Steve Staios will leave his post as the team’s Manager of Player Development to become the President of the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs. Scott Pellerin, formerly Staios’ assistant, will be promoted to Director of Player Development.
As for Pellerin, who joined the Leafs this past November, clearly he’s done enough in the few months with the club to impress this management group. It probably shouldn’t be too surprising, as he has a notable track record in player development.
Pellerin first joined the Leafs organization in November 2014 as Assistant Manager of Player Development along with current Skill Development Consultant Darryl Belfry. Shortly after his playing career ended, the 45-year-old served as an assistant coach of the Manchester Monarchs, the Los Angeles Kings American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate from 2006-2012, and was key in the development of several players who helped the Kings win their first-ever Stanley Cup in 2012.
Keep in mind the Leafs also added Lindsay Hofford from the OHL’s London Knights a few weeks back to join their amateur scouting department. Hofford is also known for his player development skills, so perhaps this little shake-up opens a door for him to take on more responsibility as well.
