The Leafs select Der-Arguchintsev with the 76th overall pick

The third round selection for the Leafs, which was picked up from trading down their 25th pick to 29th, has been made. The player is Semyon Der-Arguchintsev from the Peterborough Petes.

While it’s tough to project how good a 3rd round selection may be, this pick seems like an intelligent risk to take. He had great production in the OHL for his size and while he’s still 3-4 years out of the NHL, I like this selection. Der-Arguchintsev is the youngest player in this draft, so betting on him catching up developmentally is a smart move to make.
