TLN Roundtable: Snack Time

For the past 24 hours, the official The Leafs Nation staff Slack channel has been in an engaging meeting, and by that, I mean a loud and boisterous argument. Is it about the site’s direction? Is it about the Leafs’ direction?
Heck no. It’s about junk food. Shawn asked me what my five favourite commonplace junk food items are, and ever since then, it’s been a disaster. So we channeled that energy into this week’s roundtable, going over some of our Top 5’s, and what Leafs player we think would agree with us.

Ryan Hobart

1. Junior Mints
2. Pull and Peels
3. Nanaimo Bars
4. Krispy Kreme Donuts
5. Ranch Flavoured Veggie Straws
Player most likely to share my top pick: Morgan Rielly.

Dom Luszczyszyn

1. Cool Ranch Doritos
2. All Dressed Chips
3. Costco-brand Cookies
4. Hickory Sticks
5. Cookies & Cream Ice Cream
Player most likely to share my top pick: The player most likely to eat cool ranch Doritos is probably Tyler Bozak, while four hours deep into a COD session.

Jennifer Chesson

1. PC Ballpark Hot Dog Flavour Rippled Potato Chips
2. Nanaimo Bars
3. M&Ms
4. Salted Caramel Ice Cream
5. Movie Theatre Popcorn
Player most likely to share my top pick: Auston Matthews, while riding an eagle over Buffalo and blasting Bruce Springsteen.

Ryan Fancey

1. Miss Vickies Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar
2. Big Turk
3. Reese Peanut Butter Cups
4. Doritos Spicy Nacho
5. Chocolate Ice Cream in general
Player most likely to share my top pick: Colin Greening will be a fan of Miss Vickies because he’s a humble Newfoundlander who clearly appreciates the wholesome goodness of kettle cooked chips with delicious salt from the sea. Malt vinegar will remind him of a major scoff of fee and chee from the Duke of Duckworth.

Jeff Veillette

1. PC ‘The Decadent’ Chocolate Chip Cookies
2. Coffee Crisp
3. Cheetos ‘Crunchy’
4. Doritos ‘Cool Ranch’
5. Crispy M&M’s
Player most likely to share my top pick: Frank Corrado would 100% be the player most likely to be a decadent enthusiast. An essential part of being an Italian-Torontonian is figuring out which store brand products are better or equal to the original so your family can afford to shop at Fortinos instead of No Frills. Not only is The Decadent is the best snack-grade cookie that this country has to offer, it’s also one of the cheapest. Like all of us, the Corrado family probably bought a dozen or so boxes of them the last time they went on sale, and they’re likely the only mass-produced snack in the cantina, sitting next to differently flavoured bags of taralli.

Shawn Reis

1. Vanilla cake
2. Tim Horton’s donuts
3. Sweet Chili Heat Doritos
4. Timbits
5. Movie theatre popcorn
Player most likely to share my top pick: The Leafs most likely to like my #1 is Tyler Bozak. Vanilla cake for a vanilla player.

Cat Silverman

1. Coffee Crisp
2. Kinder Chocolate
3, 4, 5. Who cares?
Player most likely to share my top pick: William Nylander
What’s your favourite junk food? Who on the Leafs would share your unwavering love for it? Which of us have the best list? Are we all insane? Answer in the comments below.
