August is a difficult month for us hockey fans. The absence of news means there’s not really much to talk about. Personally, I like to pass the time between now and the upcoming season by watching Leafs hype videos… over and over and over again. Just for fun, I picked my 5 favourites and gathered them here for your personal enjoyment. If you’re not pumped for next season after watching these videos, you’re probably not a Leafs fan. Enjoy!
5. Legends
The Leafs are a storied franchise coming off a legendary offseason, so it is only fitting that the song in this video is “Legendary” by Welshly Arms. If you’re looking for a video that will make you scream from the rooftops about how good the Leafs are, this should do the trick.

4. Expectation
This one is pretty intense. I wouldn’t classify it as a “happy-go-lucky” hype video because it begins with a reminder of the pain we felt in April, when the Leafs lost their first round series for the second consecutive year. Nevertheless, the video outlines the rising expectations for next season and beyond, even though there aren’t any lyrics to get stuck in your head.

3. Homecoming
John Tavares is a Leaf.
2. The Great Rebuild
While hype videos can become repetitive, this one stands out because no words are spoken during the entire video. No lyrics, no interviews, no commentary. Nothing. It’s just music intertwined with hockey clips. The video walks you through the entire Leafs rebuild, from where it began to where it is now. If you’re looking for a video that will send chills down your spine, this is the video for you.

1. Glory
Remember those old intro videos on Hockey Night In Canada made by Tim Thompson? The ones whose video clips matched the lyrics of a song, telling a story that fits a current narrative in hockey? Well, if you love them as much as I do, you’re in for a treat. This video follows a similar style and depicts the Leafs as a team on the cusp of glory.

Pretty exciting, eh?
Now that you’ve seen all of these, which one is your personal favourite? Is there one particular video you plan to watch all day on October 3rd – the date of the first Leafs game this season? Let me know in the comments… unless, of course, you’re too busy watching them on repeat to comment on this article.
Is it October yet?
