Tyler Bozak’s downtown condo is up for sale

I never know how to feel about “player’s home being bought/sold” type stories. They’re so deeply speculative that there’s no real conclusion that you can draw from them, but they’re still interesting to at least talk about. Especially when they involve a player that you could logically place on the market.

So with that in mind, let’s talk a little bit about this listing on Realtor. 

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that this is Tyler Bozak’s condo. His son’s name is on one of the walls and the suite number matches his jersey (4201).

Bozak has one year remaining on his contract at $4.2 million, and the Leafs are in a bit of a crunch right now. They’re pretty close to the cap ceiling and they’re a Connor Brown signing away from 50 contracts. Moving away from him opens a bit of a hole at the third centre spot, but you also have William Nylander and Patrick Marleau who can both switch to the position if necessary.

The 31-year-old Regina native has been in trade speculation for almost as long as he’s been a Maple Leaf, but with fans frothing at the mouth for a significant defensive acquisition and Bozak coming off a career-high 55 points, that speculation has hit a fever pitch. With this in mind, it’s possible that the team has made him aware that his future is somewhat indefinite at the moment, and that he’s preparing for anything.

Whatever the case, it’s a thing that exists. Possibly even your next home, if there are any TLN readers who are obscenely rich.

UPDATE: The real estate agent representing this listing has informed us that Bozak is not the owner of the condo, but did not give further comment about whether he has any affiliation with the unit. We’ll update this further if that changes, but it’s still safe to assume he was a resident given the available information. The scenario clearly changes with that information; most likely, there isn’t any hockey implication and that he’ll rent or lease elsewhere in the city when he and his family return for the fall.
