Last week, I told you all about the playoff push NationDraft and today I’m turning the bar lights on to let you know that you’re running out of time if you want to sign up. This is your last call to enter this charity draft for a chance to win all kinds of cash (read: visa cards) to spend on pogs, bubblegum, and whatever else you’re into collecting.
Play against readers across the Nation Network in the 2016-17 Mid-Season Nation Drafts. Grand Prize is a $1000 Visa Gift Card! Enter your fantasy hockey team at nationdrafts.com for your chance to win and support a good cause! The entry fee is $20, with a portion of all proceeds going to support our charity partner, Earth Group.
Since I’ve already gone over the rules of the draft and some fantasy notes in the last article I wanted to give you one last reminder about the mid-season draft. Now, I’m not suggesting that you’re a slacker or a procrastinator but we all know how life can get in the way at times. The deadline to enter the mid-season draft is tomorrow (February 3rd) at 3:00pm MST, alright? Consider yourselves warned. Cool? Cool.

THE WINNERS FROM THE FIRST HALF

Congratulations Halliday99 on your first place finish in the 2016-2017 Season Nation Drafts! You and three of your closest friends are headed to Las Vegas for an exclusive hockey experience to see your favourite team take on the brand new Vegas hockey squadron! Haliday99 rode some exceptional picks to victory right from the very start. I mean, locking down repeated draft box leaders like Brent Burns, Kevin Shattenkirk, Brad Marchand, Jeff Carter, and Auston Matthews is a good way to save your trades for injuries and hot streaks.
In second place, team McDavid N Goliath made their mark with some trade wizardry in the 5th, 6th, and 7th draft boxes to take advantage of hot streaks from players like Claude Giroux and Phil Kessel. MnG’s scouting department could be getting poached by an NHL team in the future as they will look to take advantage of this kind of sorcery.
Out east, Too Hot To Yandle represented well as the only Toronto Fantasy GM to make the Top 10. Although he may have finished #1 in Toronto, the last night of game play bumped him from second place to fourth place position. That’s unlucky, my friend. Fortunately, your city stable is stocked full of exceptional rookies to comfort you.
I also want to include a shout out to our celebrity Fantasy GM. We assume team “Joe Sakic” was being run by Joe Sakic himself as this fantasy team finished near the bottom of the standings. *rimshot* Another shout out from the bottom half of the standings goes to the to the one and only “Team doesn’t suck” who finished in 1906th place. Lastly, I send out a very special thank you to everyone who included Harambe in your team name. As you all know, Harambe is the keeper of our hearts and protector of the Nation Network. May he not be forgotten.
I want to say a huge thank you to all of you that joined the first half draft and thank you for your continued support whenever we have one of these drafts. Who’s going to break out and who will cool off down the stretch? Make your picks and join our new fantasy hockey contest now at nationdrafts.com.
