WWYDW: If you had to give Auston Matthews two new linemates, who would they be?

Okay, we know what you’re thinking. Why would the Leafs ever try someone else with Auston Matthews? We know that the Zach Hyman-William Nylander pairing flanking AM34 is probably not going away for a while. Auston Matthews is one of the best players in the world, William Nylander is the young beautiful Swede to his right and Zach Hyman is the hard-working Toronto product to his left. It works.

But let’s say we had to scratch those two from the top-line and give him two completely new wingers.

Who would you put in? Would you just bump them up from the JVR-Bozak-Marner unit? Would you call up someone from the Marlies?

What would you end up with?

Mitch Marner and James van Riemsdyk? Patrick Marleau and Connor Brown? Matt Martin and Nikita Soshnikov? Roman Polak and Ken Klee? Sign some players from the NAHL and just see if they can fly with Auston?
