<p>Today, the NHL announced that Auston Matthews was named the league&#8217;s first star of the week, after coming out on the scene with five goals and three assists in the Leafs&#8217; first three games of the season.</p>

<p>Matthews recorded the Leafs&#8217; first goal of the season and an overtime winner on opening night against Montreal, before .scoring in a losing effort on Saturday in Ottawa.</p>
