Cross check to the head aside, Morgan Rielly’s response to Ridly Greig’s antics was an appropriate one: Leafs Morning Take

There’s a never a dull moment in Leafs Nation —that’s for sure.
Social media is still buzzing about what happened on Saturday night in Kanata.
That said, we kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by giving our thoughts on the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes is great. The end.
After that, presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the entire Morgan Rielly/Ridly Greig altercation. We tackled all angles of it. Was it the appropriate response for Rielly? Yes. Should he have cross-checked Greig in the face? No. Any way you slice it, the Battle of Ontario is back, baby. It’s unfortunately that Toronto and Ottawa are unlikely to meet up again until next year’s regular season. Furthermore, needless to say, losing Morgan Rielly for an extended period of time – due to suspension – was the last thing the Leafs needed right now. Such is life.
Meantime, Seagram’s VO Select Canadian Whisky sponsored our segment where we broke down the actual game. The lede was buried by the Rielly hit. Once again, the Leafs lost to an inferior opponent. In fact, they dropped three of four against their provincial counterparts this season.
Courtesy our new friends over at Great Clips, we dissected the blue line. Will Brad Treliving’s hand be forced on the trade market? Of note, Mark Giordano returned to practice on Monday after missing Saturday night’s game with a lower body injury. Who replaces Rielly?
Lastly, thanks to Douglas, we previewed Toronto’s three game homestand, one that will get underway against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. The Blues are 15-7-1 under interim head coach Drew Bannister. They’re doing it again. It’s amazing what a coaching change can do for a team.
Speaking of which, we’ll be back in the mix on Tuesday. Join us at 11 AM ET as we preview Toronto/St. Louis. Also, Blues captain Brayden Schenn will drop by for a chat.
