The big week is finally here.
We’re now just two sleeps away from the Toronto Maple Leafs season opener. And, with that, Monday’s episode of Leafs Morning Take marked the official Season 4 premiere of the podcast.
Off the top, we talked some Blue Jays baseball. They’re up 2-0 in their best-of-5 series with the New York Yankees. On Sunday, many of the Leafs players were in attendance to support. Mercifully, the preseason slate ended Saturday night in Detroit. Toronto went 2-2-2.
Meantime, courtesy of Uber Eats, we went over the very latest. The Leafs put a bunch of guys on waivers on Sunday and starting to lock in their roster. Of note, we did break down the lines from practice. Surprisingly, Easton Cowan appears to be the odd man out, which caught Rosey off guard a bit. Instead, it looks like both Nick Robertson and Calle Jarnkrok could crack the lineup on Wednesday night.
After that, brought to you by Ninja Crispi, we recapped what happened in the preseason before looking back at our top-3 camp storylines from a few weeks ago. We broke how Matthews looked, who he will play with on the top line, and what the rest of the lineup could like. Additionally, we addressed the crease. Of course, the Joseph Woll news early in camp changed everything. It will be interesting to see what happens with James Reimer moving forward. Also, we touched on the depth forwards and how they’re all deployed moving forward.
Full disclosure: We did unveil a McCountdown. That said, we’ll be running a McCountdown tribute on Tuesday as the Oilers captain has signed a two-year extension to stay in Edmonton.
Sigh.
Be sure to join us on Tuesday morning (11 AM ET) as we continue to get you set for Wednesday night’s opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
