Hope the Leafs are enjoying some much-needed rest and relaxation!
That said, the blue and white talk never stops on Leafs Morning Take.
Carter Hutton filled in for Jay Rosehill on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. If you’re a big fan of goalie talk, this was the episode for you. We covered all avenues.
Also, as we’ve been promoting this week, our show will be LIVE on location tomorrow and Friday – February 1st & 2nd – from the Seagram’s VO Whisky Studio at SponsorshipX. Of course, all this is in conjunction with NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto. Across The Nation Network platform, we’ve got some fantastic content lined up.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Toronto’s crease. With Hutts being the former NHL goalie, it’s always unique getting his prospective on different things. Naturally, most of the conversation stemmed around Ilya Samsonov and his return to life since returning from his little sabbatical. Hutton believes in him.
Next, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, we continued the trade deadline conversation. A lot can change over the next few weeks, but as of right now, it doesn’t feel like the Leafs are willing to do something substantial to better the squad. In fact, there’s growing sense that the brain trust doesn’t believe this is the year for this team. You never know, though.
Additionally, Douglas Mattresses set the table for our next topic. We debate whether Juuse Saros would make sense for the Leafs to target in a trade. On top of that, we both agreed that the Leafs should have no untouchables when it comes to trying to solidify the crease. There’s no question acquiring Saros would be a game changer for Toronto.
Meantime, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, Hockey Hall of Famer and former Maple Leaf netminder Ed Belfour stopped by the show. We talked everything from his time in Toronto to the evolution of the position from his playing days.
Again, the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take will be coming at you LIVE from SponsorshipX in Toronto. Join us at 11 AM ET!
