If he gets to July 1, Andy Strickland says Sam Bennett doesn’t want to play in Canada: Leafs Morning Take

Just minutes after we got off the air yesterday where we pondered the idea of the Leafs trading for Trevor Zegras, Anaheim dealt the 24-year-old to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Talk about wasting no time.
At any rate, that’s where the conversation started on the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take as Carter Hutton filled in for Jay Rosehill. Simply put, the next two weeks are expected to be utter chaos in the NHL. Patiently, Leafs Nation is waiting for Brad Treliving’s first move of the offseason. Since Toronto went out in Game 7 against Florida, they’ve been very quiet. There’s a lot of moving parts to their offseason, so it makes a lot of sense.
After that, we talked about the latest surrounding Toronto. According to multiple reports, things can change, but right now, it seems very likely that Brad Marchand could be re-signing in Florida. Obviously, from a Maple Leafs perspective, that would stink. That said, giving a 37-year-old four years and a boat load of money screams desperation. Additionally, we talked about Aaron Ekblad’s future and Patrick Kane’s, too. Could the Maple Leafs be a potential fit for both? Also, more and more, it seems like Vegas could be the team to beat for Mitch Marner’s services.
Speaking of which, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, Andy Strickland, co-host of the Cam & Strick podcast stopped by the show. He’s been all over the Marner and Bennett stuff lately. We talked a lot about those two files. On top of that, Strickland dished on the Kane fit, Craig Berube’s first year on the job, and if Blues captain Brayden Schenn’s name is still out there on the trade block.
Meantime, be sure to tune into the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take (11 AM ET) where Zack Phillips and Jay Rosehill take you through the latest news and notes surrounding the Maple Leafs. I’ll be back on Thursday from Los Angeles!
