Leafs Postgame: Never in doubt

Photo credit: Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports
Holy expletive.
Honestly, what the hell was that? The Leafs won a game by three goals that they blew a four goal lead in.
The Leafs have given up seven goals in two games and still have +8 goal differential.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have scored fifteen goals in their first two games of the season.
And though it’s WAY too early in the season to look, the Leafs are first place in the entire National Hockey League.
CORSIs

Basically, the Leafs should’ve won this game, scored a lot of goals, gave up a few goals, and then also actually won this game.

1st period
Ok. The Leafs scored five goals. FIVE. They also gave up two, but meh. They scored five goals in the first 20 minutes against a pretty good team. That’s a good start any way you slice it.
Five is a lot of GIFs, so we’ll keep it to the first one:
and then this beauty.
Jake Gardiner: master of deception
(If you wanna check out all the goals, you can see ’em here:)
The Leafs chased Henrik Lundqvist so bad the Rangers decided to put in Ondrej Pavelec. BUDS!
2nd frame
We’ll look back on this game and just kinda forget this whole thing went down.
The Leafs entered the period with a three-goal lead and ended tied. There were no highlights worth showing. Ugh.
Babs summed it up best:
Babcock: "The 2nd period it was just, I don't know what we were doing. We got away from our game."
3rd go-around
The Buds came back, and in a big way.
Tyler Bozak started it….
Gardiner to Bozak and it is 6-5 Leafs😍
Some cute teamwork here…
Nylander puts it off the crossbar and Komarov finishes it off. 7-5 Leafs.
and then The Finisher.
Nazem Kadri scores a beauty and the game ends 8-5 Buds.
Three goals later, it was 8-5, the Leafs won, and everyone had a great time. Including you.
Tweets from the crowd
Babcock calls Connor Carrick "Seas." (As in two Cs.) We'll allow it.
This was just one example, but we had some fun tonight with @BlueSeatBlogs. They’re good people. Check them out.
Lmao imagine only scoring twice in a period
Friend of the blog Richard Lee-Sam with the postgame video:
GAME DONE
Some second period fun:
A modern Shakespearean tragedy (4 acts)
This fun fact:
The Leafs have scored 7+ goals in back-to-back games for the first time since 1998. 12/19 '98 7-4 vs NYR 12/21 '98 7-1 vs PIT
This ominous prediction from after Wednesday night…
Look I warned you.
Nice win, but Maple Leafs obviously won't win every game 7-2. There's going to be some 8-5 and 9-4 wins mixed in along the way. #adversity
That’s all, folks.
See you Monday!
