Leafs Postgame: The Buds Took a Hall-iday

Apr 5, 2018, 21:43 EDT
So yeah, that was a game. A game that you could tell the Leafs were pretty much mailing it in for the playoffs, and the Devils were doing the exact opposite so that they could get in the playoffs.
Looks like we’re waiting til Saturday to see Freddy set a new wins record for Leafs goalies, if he starts.
1st Period
Um, yeah.
The Leafs apparently forgot that the game started at 7.
They kinda got dominated early on. Like, really badly. But, Freddy stood on his head, and then the Leafs went to work on a power play, scoring… a very interesting goal from William Nylander (for his 20th, by the way).
Not an ideal first period, but they came out of it with a lead, nonetheless.
Also, with that goal, William Nylander hit a performance bonus, as hitting the 20 goal mark gives him an extra $212,500 for his bank account (I’m sure there will be more where that came from this summer).
2nd Period
This wasn’t much better.
Not only did the Leafs put in a worse effort than the first period, they also allowed two goals this time, to give the Devils their eventual 2-1 win.
3rd Period
Wow, another poorly played period, and once again, I have nothing to talk about in terms of what the Buds did.
Just a typical game between a team trying to get in the playoffs and a team that’s already clinched. On to the next!

Some good old fashioned #stats

Up next, the Leafs conclude the *regular* season against the Montreal Canadiens at home on Saturday.
