Leafs sign Kevin Gravel to one year, $700k contract

Jul 1, 2019, 14:10 EDT
The Leafs have made yet another $700k signing, as they’ve brought in defenseman Kevin Gravel on a one year deal, according to Fran Seravalli.
Gravel comes to Toronto after a 36 game season with the Edmonton Oilers, where he registered three assists, as well as five games in the AHL where he had one assist. Before that, he had spent three years with the Los Angeles Kings.

As far as his metrics go, he doesn’t move the needle, but he’s not bad either. It’s likely that he just plays in the AHL, but he could be a solid depth player for the Leafs if injuries require him there (which, at the beginning of the season, they will!)
But, he’s a left handed shot, so he’s not the saviour we so desire.
