It’s Game Day!
It’s been a frustrating stretch for the Leafs (25-17-4), but perhaps a change of scenery will be just what they need. Tonight, the Leafs travel south of the border after a six-game homestand to take on the Philadelphia Flyers (20-16-8).
Tonight marks the third and final meeting of the season for the two clubs. The Leafs are 0-2 against the Flyers on the season.
Leafs Lines
Dominic Moore is back in, taking Frederik Gauthier’s spot in the lineup. Meanwhile, the “rotation” continues to be as fallacious as ever, with Travis Dermott rightly staying in the lineup for a second consecutive game, while Andreas Borgman unfortunately remains scratched.
Flyers Lines
| DEFENSIVE PAIRINGS | |
|---|---|
The first line of this Flyers’ club remains as dangerous as ever. They’re top three in scoring on the team, with Glaude Giroux leading the way with 54 points, 21 more than Matthews has for Toronto’s lead.
Shayne Gostisbehere continues to thrive in his third season in the league, with 32 points through 40 games.
Starting Goalies
It’s Frederik Andersen versus Brian Elliot tonight. Despite the Leafs’ recent frustrating play, Andersen has been a clear bright spot, with a sparkling .922 save percentage. He’s been lights-out for a long stretch now, keeping the Leafs in many games despite the puck not going in on the other end.
Brian Elliot, meanwhile, has had a less than stellar season. He’s a .906 on the campaign and was most recently yanked in his last game against the Islanders. Here’s to hoping the Leafs can capitalize on this opportunity to break out offensively.
Notes
- Nazem Kadri’s dry spell continues. With just 1 goal in his last 17 games, he desperately needs a break.
- What’s the over / under on Komarov’s TOI tonight? 18:30?
- Eric Lindros is getting his number retired in Philadelphia tonight. A great gesture by the Flyers to honor a Leafs legend.
Puck Drop is at 7pm on Sportsnet Ontario
