LGD: Out-sharking the Sharks

Air Canada Center will host the San Jose Sharks tonight in what is a rather important game in the context of the Leafs season. While Toronto have enjoyed a good season so far, they enter the second half of their campaign tonight looking to get back on level points with a resurgent Boston Bruins.
Toronto lost to Tampa Bay on Tuesday in a great game for the neutral eyes, but that defeat left them with a poor 3-6-1 record – the second worst record in the division at the moment. More concerning is the momentum in which the Florida Panthers are gaining as they have jumped to nine points behind the Leafs, but have two games in hand on them.
San Jose got a nice win at Montreal on Tuesday night, admittedly Montreal generally gives every team a nice win. The Sharks won the game 4-1 and out-shot Montreal 33-31.
Tonight presents the Buds with the chance to cement their place in the playoffs and keep pace with the Bruins who are now ahead of them. This evening’s game is the second of a seven game home stand – and the Leafs desperately need to get a win before we all enter the panic station!

Freddie Andersen plays again tonight after saving 34 of 36 shots against the Lightning.
Notes
- San Jose defeated the Leafs back in October 4-2, a game in which the Leafs were awful and out-shot 39-18.
- Future Leaf Joe Thornton will start on the top Sharks line, he has 27 points this season.
- The Sharks have a 21-12-4 record this season and have just two points less than the Leafs despite playing four games less.
- There are 12 games being played tonight, and make sure you keep a keen eye on the Boston – Florida game as it could be big for our season. Montreal are at home to Tampa Bay which should be fun because Tampa are electric and the Canadiens are really bad. Like as bad as the Shea Weber trade, or the Drouin for Sergachev trade.
- Is it just me or is the ‘San Jose Sharks’ the worst name in the NHL? Though their arena being called the Shark Tank is pretty cool, I must admit.
