Quick hits…

  • According to Kristen Shelton, Rich Clune is back with the Leafs after being cut from camp earlier. Apparently Mike Babcock figured too many players were taking liberties on Mitch Marner in the Senators pre-season game, so he wanted to add a little muscle back into the lineup. I mean, sure, why not? It’s pre-season and the last thing you need is AHL hacks taking runs at one of your young guns, so retaliate with an AHL hack of your own to balance it out.
  • Miro Aaltonen, who’s anchoring the third line tonight between Josh Leivo and Connor Brown, is reportedly in the mix for the fourth line centre role out of camp. One would think Dominic Moore has that role locked down, but Aaltonen could bump Ben Smith from the roster as an extra forward who can play centre. Aaltonen is waiver exempt, which would mean making the roster will be an extra challenge for him.
  • Marleau-Kadri-Komarov are back together after a very solid first game earlier this week. I expected Connor Brown to be the right winger on this line, but Komarov adds an element of grit and him and Kadri are both excellent two-way players.
  • This team Buffalo is icing tonight is very bad. As was the Sens team the Leafs lost to in Toronto earlier this week. Hopefully the Leafs can come out on top so we don’t have to hear anything absurd on Twitter tonight.
