The Toronto Maple Leafs along with the rest of the NHL have announced their schedule for the 2026-27 season, and they did it in the form of a cheeky video revealing some of their most sought after dates on the schedule.
The video featured two people in the Maple Leafs’ dressing room going through a bin of items that visiting teams supposedly left behind, each item unique to the city they represent and coming with the date(s) the Leafs will host them in 2026-27. This included a bottle of Buffalo sauce (a nod to the Sabres), an orange wig (a nod to Gritty the Philadelphia Flyers’ infamous mascot), and a bag of clam chowder (a not to the Boston Bruins).
It also featured a shot at their provincial rival, the Ottawa Senators, when one guy pulled a podcast microphone out of the bin and the other said “so what, you think we have to send this to Florida, now?”. This is obviously a joke about longtime Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, who co-hosts a podcast with his brother Matthew, requesting a trade out of Ottawa and going to the Florida Panthers this past summer. Ouch!
The first-of-its-kind schedule will feature 84 games instead of the standard 82 that we’ve gotten used to for the past couple of decades. Some key facts – their longest homestand will be six games, which will happen between November 3 and November 14, their longest road stretch will be seven games, set to take place between December 22 and January 7. They’ll play in 11 sets of back-to-backs, their busiest month is March (16 games), their busiest home month is November (nine games) their busiest road months are December and March (eight games). And, of course, Saturdays are their busiest day of the year, with 27 Saturday night games set.
The Maple Leafs will kick off the season with a four-game homestand, beginning with the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens on September 29, followed by the New York Islanders on September 30, the Ottawa Senators on October 3, and the Nashville Predators on October 6. Their first road game of the season is against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 8.
