The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded their second round pick (No. 58) in the 2024 NHL Draft to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a second round pick in 2025 and a seventh round pick in the 2024 draft (No. 225).

The Maple Leafs previously acquired the No. 58 pick from the Anaheim Ducks in a deal to move down from No. 23 to No. 31, where they selected Oshawa Generals defenceman Ben Danford. The Panthers then used the No. 58 pick to select Swedish centre Linus Eriksson.
While likely an anti-climatic move from a fan perspective, it was a smart move for the Maple Leafs to make in terms of recouping assets. Until then, they had zero picks in the first four rounds of the 2025 draft, with the majority of those picks being dealt in trades for Jake McCabe and Ryan O&#8217;Reilly at the 2023 trade deadline.
The Maple Leafs&#8217; next pick will come in the fourth round, at No. 120 overall. They have seven picks remaining now, with three in the fifth round and three in the seventh to follow their No. 120 pick.
