Like a lot of teams, no doubt, if John Tavares gets to the UFA shopping period, and it is still an “if” at this point, TOR is believed to be putting together a promotional video for JT that may even include a cameo pitch or two from some current Leaf players.

It’s one of the fun annual activities, but it’s rare that you ever get the chance to really imagine what it would be like for your team to have a superstar acquisition in free agency.
Two years ago, it was Steven Stamkos who was believed to be in the Blue and White’s eyes, before he eventually decided to go to the only NHL team he’s ever known, signing an eight-year deal in Tampa.
But with under two weeks until NHL free agency begins, New York Islanders captain and GTA native John Tavares remains without a contract, with Toronto believed to be a top potential destination.
TSN’s Insider Bob McKenzie dropped this bombshell earlier today:
What immediately came to mind was this video from 2013, where new marquee signing David Clarkson was touring around the city where he’d become a star play some games.
While we don’t quite know for sure exactly if Tavares will make it to July 1st or sign with Toronto, it’s fun to even begin to imagine what kind of contents that video contains.
As a reminder, the Islanders have made the playoffs just three times in John Tavares’ nine-year career since he was drafted first overall, and made the second round just once.
