Another holiday break is in the books and the Leafs are ready to rock and roll.
First and foremost, it’s going to be weird to see Jacques Martin behind the Sens’ bench once again at Scotiabank Arena. Back in the Pat Quinn days, the Leafs and Senators had a one hell of a rivalry.
At any rate, the third instalment of the Battle of Ontario should be a good one.
We kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing our Christmas breaks. Naturally, that conversation flowed into Jay Rosehill’s appearance on the Barn Burner Holiday Spirits show last week. If you’re unfamiliar with what that is, give that hyperlink a click. You’re welcome. Unsurprisingly, Rosey was IN one.
Presented by Door Dash, in the Appetizer, we caught up on the last few games for the Leafs. Of course, Rosey wasn’t around for Friday’s show where I essentially fired Sheldon Keefe, so I had him give his thoughts on that perplexing 9-3 loss in Buffalo. Meantime, the Leafs do deserve some semblance of credit for bouncing back against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. They played well and took care of business. More of that, please.
Meantime, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Round 3 of the Battle of Ontario. The two teams have split the first two meetings of the season with the road side winning both times. Let’s hope the Leafs can flip the script tonight!
After that, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, Mike Legg, famous for his iconic ‘Michigan’ goal in 1996, stopped by for a chat. We broke down the genesis of the move and where Mike thinks things could be headed with respect to it. It was a fun chat!
Lastly, Anthony Stewart will sub in for Jay Rosehill on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET as we recap Leafs/Sens plus look ahead to the rest of the week.
