Well, that was about as forgettable a hockey game as you’ll ever watch.
Were there a lot of goals? No. Were there a lot of cool saves? Also no.
Any good fights? Any good storylines?
Well, an AHL depth goaltender who was briefly in the Leafs organization just happened to pitch a shutout against them. It sounds kind of exciting, but it’s really a bit of a stretch.  Other than that, not a whole heck of a lot happened, as the Leafs fell 2-0 to the Minnesota Wild.
It was the first time the Leafs were shut out all season. What more do you want us to say here?

1-0 Wild (Tyler Ennis goal)

Gotta cover all five players, folks!
No one picks up Ennis as he goes behind the net, and he gets a little cheeky with his attempt to score this one.
Morgan Rielly gets caught fighting back, Frederik Andersen sprawls across the ice (but it’s futile), and well, we’ve got a 1-0 lead in favour of Minnesota.

2-0 Wild (Mikael Granlund goal)

Not to be outdone, the Leafs decided to allow another goal from right behind their net. Instead of sending no one back there to cover, they send two, but neither Patrick Marleau or Jake Gardiner are able to get the job done.
So the puck bounces straight out front to Granlund, who has no trouble putting it home early in the third period

I wish there was more to the story, where the Leafs had some epic comeback and were able to pull it out. I wish we could say there was a fluke bounce that put things right back in the driver’s seat for Toronto.
There wasn’t, and the Leafs lost 2-0 while having a heck of a lot of trouble hitting the net.
See you tonight, as the Buds are back in action against the Dead Wings.
