The Toronto Maple Leafs are actually good again.
After one of their best games of the season on Wednesday, they come out last night and put in another great effort. They give McElhinney goal support early on, and don’t look back, as Curtis earns his first shutout of the season. Even better, the Leafs made a bit of history, as this is the first time they’ve had back to back shutouts in back to back nights where they also scored four or more goals. Super specific, but still a good achievement.

1-0 Leafs from Justin “the franchise” Holl

Justin Holl snipes home his second goal in his second game, and it’s honestly just a well placed shot. Hyman did a great job screening Lundqvist to give Holl an easier time, and he wired it past the King.

2-0 Leafs from Trade Bait, Ooh Ha Ha

A great give and go play between Brown and JVR. Brown spots JVR sneaking behind the Rangers defense, and makes an excellent pass to spring him, and the van Riemsdyk does his thing and squeezes the puck past Lundqvist.

A 3-0 Goal From a Dad on the Dad Trip

A nice setup from Kadri entering the zone to give Marleau, and a nice, hard shot from Marleau to bury it, although it was a pretty weak goal for Lundqvist to give up.

4-0 Leafs, RIP Lundqvist

A nifty passing play between Hyman and Nylander here. Hyman enters the zone, and passes back to Nylander without even looking (although Ray said that Nylander let him know he was behind him), and then Nylander gives it back, and Hyman uses the passing options to fool Lundqvist and score on his own.
About as perfect of a road game on the second half of a back to back with travel that you could expect from this team. The Leafs are really taking that next big step these last few games, so it’ll be a matter of time to see if they can keep it up for a good chunk of the remainder of the season.
Oh, and Justin Holl for captain.
