For the first time in 32 years, the Toronto Blue Jays are off to the World Series.
Better yet, much to the chagrin of Toronto sports fans, Vladimir Guerrero wore an Auston Matthews jersey prior to Game 7 on Monday night.
Well, in an amazing turn of events, it ended up being a good luck charm.
Once we gave our initial thoughts on the Jays advancing to play the big, bad Los Angeles Dodgers for all the marbles, Pete Blackburn and DJ Bean of The What Chaos! Show stopped by. On Monday, The Nation Network announced the acquisition of this fun and whacky national hockey show/podcast. We’re excited to have them on the team!
After that, Jay Rosehill weighed in on everything surrounding the Anthony Stolarz situation. In fact, he went on a pretty epic rant about how much he liked what his former teammate in Philadelphia did. On Monday, the Leafs poured cold water on everything. That said, it will be fascinating to see how they come out against the New Jersey Devils.
Then, NHL head coach extraordinaire Peter Laviolette joined us. It was Lavy’s first public appearance since getting canned by the New York Rangers last spring. He was awesome. It was perfect timing, too, with the Stolarz stuff and all that. Lavy weighed in on that and how he would handle that situation if he were Craig Berube. On top of that, the 60-year-old dished on what could be next in his marvellous career. Lastly, he gave his thoughts on this Leafs team – in general – and if he thinks they have what it takes to do something special this season.
To wrap, we previewed the matchup with New Jersey. Toronto’s swept the season series 3-0-0 with Sheldon Keefe in 2024-25. Furthermore, they’re 7-2-1 in the last 10 outings against the Devils. Anthony Stolarz will take on Jake Allen. Meantime, Easton Cowan will sit, Calle Jarnkrok will draw in. Max Domi has been promoted to the top line. We’ll see how it all works out.
Leafs Morning Take will return on Wednesday at 11 AM. Zack Phillips will be in for Jay Rosehill. We’ll recap Leafs/Devils. Plus, TSN Analyst and former Maple Leaf Frankie Corrado will drop by the show.
