Mike Babcock says Travis Dermott has a CT scan and it was negative. It’s not broken. He’s walking around and should be ready to go in a couple days.

Positive Travis Dermott news!

Travis Dermott left Saturday night’s Stanley Cup Final preview game against the Winnipeg Jets after blocking a shot. You can exhale, Leafs nation. Dermott had a CT scan and it was determined that his foot isn’t broken. The rookie defender should be good to go in the next few days. Crisis averted.
At this point, I would hope the Leafs just rest Dermott the rest of the way. There’s really no sense in rushing him back into the lineup to play in a few meaningless games.
The Leafs have three more games to go this season. The team is solidly stapled in third place in the Atlantic Division as the Tampa Bay Lightning have a seven-point lead in the standings. Toronto could go hard and reach the 50-win plateau for the first time in franchise history, but that certainly isn’t worth the risk of injury prior to the playoffs.
Dermott has been a very pleasant surprise for the Leafs this year. In 36 games, the 34th overall pick from the 2015 draft has posted 13 points and a +6.1 Corsi For percentage relative to his teammates in roughly 16 minutes of ice time per game. I think we all figured Dermott would become a solid NHL defender, but I don’t know if we expected it to happen this quickly.
